On 31 January 2024, the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) updated the requirements of the import of products, animals, food and feed system (IPAFFS) to include:
(1) A link to guidance on the importation of plants and plant products into Northern Ireland from non-EU third countries has been added under 'Checking import rules'. A link to the IPAFFS Plant Guide has been added to the 'Getting Help' section;
(2) Added a reminder to prepare for new import controls from 31 January 2024
(3) Removed the section exempting certain products from import notification on IPAFFS in the Republic of Ireland. From 31 January 2024, import notifications will be required. The risk level for plants and plant products has been increased.
