Singapore proposed to amend the Food Act on the use of additives in infant formula

On 31 January 2024, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) issued a consultation paper on the proposed amendments to the food act on the use of additives in infant formula. The feedback period is 31 March 2024 for comments. The main points are: to increase the use of sucralose in soya-based beverages; to allow the use of the sodium salt of 3'-sialic acid lactose and the sodium salt of 6'-sialic acid lactose in infant formula, with the maximum use levels as shown in the table below.
