On 31 January 2024, the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KBS) established four food standards. They are Almonds DKS 2991:2023, Hazelnut Kernels DKS 2992:2023, Pumpkin Seeds DKS 2994:2023, and Raw Walnut Kernels DKS 2993:2023, and the comment period is up to 1 April 2024, respectively. The main contents include: product terms and definitions, general requirements and quality indicators, hygiene standards (see the table below for limited requirements), packaging and labelling provisions, sampling and testing methods, etc.
