On January 24, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam requested the provinces and municipalities to implement the following tasks:
(1) On the basis of enterprise declaration, strengthen the inspection and control of food items declared by enterprises with customs record vouchers, and inform whether food can be cleared according to the final results of food safety inspection;
(2) If there are doubts about the declared food, but there is no sufficient basis to accurately identify the imported food varieties, promptly coordinate closely with the competent authorities and inspection agencies, and apply management policies according to regulations;
(3) If there is any doubt about the quality, shelf life, origin and other information that is not guaranteed in accordance with the regulations, physical inspection (for the goods that have not been cleared) or stop the customs clearance of the goods (for the goods that have been cleared) should be carried out to check, verify and deal with the illegal acts in accordance with the law.
