Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service said that China became the main importer of poultry meat and beef from Russia in 2023.
In 2023, China imported 132,900 tonnes of poultry meat and 21,500 tonnes of beef from Russia, the Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service noted.
The Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service said that all exported products have successfully passed veterinary and epidemic prevention inspections and fully complied with China's quarantine requirements.
The assistant director of the Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service, Dafshev, said that the key factors for the successful export of Russian products to China were compliance with Chinese requirements, a high level of quality and safety control of exported products, and a better level of biosecurity at the enterprises.
In October 2023 it was reported that General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) expanded the list of enterprises with access to Russian meat and offal for export to China. Currently, 54 meat and poultry by-products producers and 4 beef and beef by-products producers across Russia are authorised to export their products to China. The Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service will continue its efforts to get more Russian companies wishing to export goods to China onto the access list.
