Chile issued new regulations on hygienic conditions for imported foods of animal origin and other products

On 27 February 2024, Chile issued Circular No. G/SPS/N/CHL/785, promulgating new regulations on the sanitary conditions for the import of food of animal origin and other products. The main contents of the circular include:

 

(1) Provides for the establishment of sanitary conditions for the entry into Chile of products of animal origin, medicines for veterinary use, and other products labelled in baggage and means of transport, and repeals Exemption Resolution No. 107 of 2022. Establishes sanitary requirements for goods of animal origin entering Chile as commercial imports.

 

(2) Proposed date of entry into force: six months from the date of publication or one month after publication in the Official Gazette.
