Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at the All-Russian Grain Forum that Russia's rice production has not yet reached a level that can guarantee the supply of the entire domestic market, so the government intends to extend the rice export ban again.
"We plan to increase rice production to at least 2 million tons in the near future and expect that our exporters will be able to export the crop," Patrushev added. But it will take some time. We will maintain the export ban on rice for the time being.
After the Kuban hydropower plant accident, the Russian government issued a temporary ban on rice exports on July 1, 2022, to eliminate the risk of shortages and ensure stable prices of finished products for consumers, and the ban has since been extended several times, most recently until June 30, 2024.
