South Korea issued partial amendment to the Regulations on the Declaration and Inspection of Imported Food

On June 13, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea issued Notice No. 2024-26, amending part of the Regulations on Declaration and Inspection of imported Food. The main contents are as follows:

 

1. Improve the process of applying for the planned import of raw materials for the production of the Company's own products and raw materials for foreign exchange acquisition: Expanded the scope of applications for planned imports to include raw materials (excluding aquatic products) that are declared to be imported by enterprises registered as food production and processing enterprises, food additive manufacturers or specialized distribution and sales enterprises and deemed safe by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for the production of their own products, The project of submitting test and inspection reports from foreign testing and inspection institutions recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, as well as raw materials used to acquire foreign exchange to produce export products, and specifies the documents to be submitted at the time of application.

 

2. Carry out precision inspection and random sampling inspection on kidney beans, broomcorn millet, red beans, persimmon, burdock and pumpkin from China.

 

3. Some wording in this standard is modified according to the implementation of the consumption period labeling system.

 

4. The number of pesticide inspection items for the first precision inspection will be adjusted from 113 to 128 items.
