NHC Announcement on 8 New Varieties of Food-Related Products including Rosin, polymer with formaldehyde and phenol ([2018] No. 15)
On 30 November, 2018, National Health Commission (NHC) issued an announcement on 8 new varieties of food-related products ([2018] No. 15), including 5 types of new varieties of additivesfor food contact materials and products, 2 types of new varieties of resin for food contact materials and products and 1 type of expanded usage of resin for food contact materials and products.
GAC Notice on Relevant Regulatory Matters of Cross-border E-commerce Retail imports and Exports (Notice [2018] No. 194)
In order to improve the supervision of imported and exported commodities via cross-border e-commerce retail and to promote the positive development of cross-border e-commerce, General Administration of Customs (GAC) issued the notice on relevant regulatory matters of cross-bordere-commerce retail imports and exports on 10 December, 2018, according to Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine, the Law of the People's Republic of China on import and Export Commodity Inspection, the Law of the People's Republic of China on Electronic Commerce, the Notice of 6 Ministries including Ministry of Commerce on Strengthening the Supervision of Cross-Border E-Commerce Retail imports ([2018] No. 486) and other laws and policies on cross-border e-commerce retail imports and exports.
This GAC notice willcome into force on 1 January, 2019.
CFSA Solicited Public Opinions on 8 Novel Food Additives including Sanzan Gum
In compliant with Measures for the Management of Novel Food Additives, the National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) solicited opinions from the public on 8 novel food additives since 11 December, 2018.
The deadline for soliciting opinions on 5 novel food additives including Sanzan Gum is 26 December, 2018. The deadline for soliciting opinions on other 3 novel food additives (namely, Dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt, Sorbic acid and its potassium salt, lactase (β-galactosidase)) is 9 January, 2019.

In compliant with Regulation on Administration Managementof New Varieties of Food-Related Products and Regulation on Declaration and Acceptance of New Varieties of Food-Related Products, the National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) solicited opinions from the public on 8 new varieties of food-related products, including 1 type of new varieties of additives for food contact materials and products, 4 types of new varieties of resin for food contact materials and products, and 3 types of expanded usage of additives for food contact materials and products, since11 December, 2018.
The deadline forsoliciting opinions is 7 January, 2019.
