Waste (pollutant) management practices in the food safety management system of China

 
As we all know, ISO22000: 2018 Food Safety Management System is a covering the whole food chain can be certified system. The management of waste and pollutants is an equally important part of the production process of a company. Without good control, all the work done before may fall short.

GB/T 27301-2008 Requirements for meat and meat product manufacturers

6.5 Control of visible pollutants such as feces, milk, and bile

Meat slaughter production enterprises should control visible pollutants such as feces, milk, bile, and ensure that products are not contaminated.

6.6 Microbiological control of meat and meat products

Manufacturers should formulate written microbiological control procedures based on product hygiene requirements, and monitor the main production processes, finished products and semi-finished products regularly or irregularly.

6.7 Control of physical hazards

Manufacturers should use necessary monitoring equipment such as metal detectors and X-ray detectors to control physical hazards.

6.8 Control of chemical hazards

Manufacturers should fully consider the chemical hazards (such as pesticide and veterinary drug residues, environmental pollutants, misuse of additives, etc.) that may be caused by raw materials and processing (preparation of auxiliary materials, injection or dipping) and effectively control. The scope of application of food additives and the addition amount should comply with the provisions of GB2760, and no food additives that are not permitted or prohibited can be used.

5.4 Control of toxic and hazardous substances

5.4.1 A management plan for the storage and use of toxic and hazardous materials shall be established and implemented to ensure effective control of toxic and hazardous materials.

5.4.2 Special storage facilities for toxic and hazardous materials should be set up, locked and kept by a dedicated person. Toxic and hazardous materials should be packed in fixed packages and clearly marked.

5.4.3 When using toxic and hazardous substances, specially trained personnel should operate in accordance with regulations to avoid contamination of food, food contact surfaces and food packaging materials.

5.4.4 The control records of toxic and hazardous substances shall be established and maintained.

1.1.2 Sewage treatment facilities, boiler rooms, and coal storage yards in the plant area should be far away from the production area and main roads, and not downwind from the main wind direction.

1.1.3 The temporary waste storage site should be far away from the actual tank workshop and should be cleared and shipped out of the factory in time. Equipped with facilities to prevent pollution of the plant environment during the temporary storage and removal of waste, and regular cleaning and disinfection.
