New Zealand MPI lifts alarm on South Cape shellfish biotoxins
On November 6, 2020, the New Zealand Department of Primary Industries (MPI) canceled on the west coast of the North Island from the collection of shellfish public health warnings.
This warning is from the South Point (entrance of Manukau Port) on the North Island to Tirua Cape (the southern end of Kawhia Port). Further sampling of the coastal shellfish of the coastline indicated that the paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxin is now at a safe level. The other warnings from Waipapakauri to Kaipara Harbor on the west coast of the North Island still exist.
