India Revises Standards for Mixed Vegetable Oils
On March 8, 2021, the Bureau of Food Safety and Standards of India issued No. Stds/SP-15/T[T(IMST)]. Notification to revise the standard for mixed vegetable oils. The main revisions are as follows:
1. Under the “Article 2.1 Certain Mixtures Prohibited for Sale”, “Any mixed vegetable oil containing mustard oil produced on or after June 8, 2021” is added;
2. Amend paragraph (11) in "Article 2.3 Prohibition and Restriction of the Sale of Certain Products" to "(11) Mixed vegetable oils shall not be sold in bulk. Mixed vegetable oils shall be sold in sealed packages weighing no more than 15 kg." .
The new regulations are planned to take effect on June 8, 2021.
