Singapore imposes temporary import restrictions on poultry products from areas affected by the avian flu epidemic in Denmark


On March 16, 2021, the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) announced that it would impose temporary restrictions on the import of poultry and their products near the place where the highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak occurred in Denmark.

Due to the H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in Ringsted and Slauelse, Denmark, from March 3 and 6, 2021, the cities of Ringsted and Slauel will be dealt with respectively. Temporary restrictions on the import of poultry and its products in Seychelles. Poultry products that meet the requirements of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) for avian influenza virus inactivation and heat treatment will not be affected by import restrictions.

Poultry products exported from Ringsted before March 3, 2021 and slaughtered before February 10, 2020 will continue to be accepted for import. Poultry products exported from Slauelse before March 6, 2021 and slaughtered before February 13, 2020 will continue to be accepted for import.

In order to facilitate the customs clearance of other poultry and poultry products, when poultry and products are imported, the attached veterinary health certificate should also include the following additional certifications:

A. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and H5 and H7 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) are notifiable diseases in exporting countries.

B. According to the definition of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), poultry derived from meat are not vaccinated with H5 and H7 subtypes of avian influenza vaccine.

C. Poultry meat and meat products do not originate from poultry in the Danish cities of Ringsted, Slagelse, Vyborg, Randers and Bornholm.

D. Poultry from meat sources were born, raised and slaughtered in Denmark, or day-old chicks legally imported from a country with the same poultry health status.
