India revises food safety standards for shea butter and Bornean tallow
The following content is added to peanut butter in Article 2.2 and 2.2.4 of the use of fats:
(1) Shea butter-Shea butter refers to a product obtained by compressing and extracting shea nuts collected from the shea tree (Butyrospermumparkii), which has been refined for human consumption. Dry separation or solvent separation methods are available and can be used or applied to different foods. Shea butter should not be mixed with other oils, does not contain any color, and should be transparent after dissolution, and have standard specifications;
(2) Borneo tallow refers to the fat obtained by compressing and extracting illife seeds (Shoreastenoptera). It should not be mixed with other oils, and there should be no impurities, rancidity, floating objects or other foreign objects. In addition, it must be separated from water, and no coloring agents, flavoring agents or mineral oils may be added.
The above amendments will take effect from the date of publication in the official gazette.
