According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 172 batches of imported foods and 11 bactches of cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in March 2021.
Unqualified foods came from 27 countries or regions. Products from Taiwan, China, 24 batches, were the most. followed by Italy, with 24 batches.
The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were
failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required (the most), unqualified labels, failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access, food additive use problems, nutritional supplements problems, microbial contamination, inconsistent cargo certificates, detection of animal diseases, etc.
Statistics also show that
Shenzhen Port detected the largest number of unqualified foods, with 37 batches.
In addition, 11 batches of cosmetics that were not allowed to enter the country were produced in
Taiwan, China and Ghana. The reason for the non-entry are unqualified labels and inco
nsistent cargo certificates.
The above-mentio
ned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
