Finland issues new food law and related regulations
On April 21, 2021, the Finnish Food Safety Agency announced on its official website that the new "Food Law" and related regulations will come into effect on April 21, 2021. The main contents include:
(1) Strengthened food supervision based on risk management;
(2) In addition to the inspection fee, an annual supervision fee will be charged from the beginning of 2022 in order to provide advice on supervision. No annual supervision fee shall be charged for registered primary production sites, village shops, non-profit organizations or operators engaged in small-scale activities;
(3) The purpose of the newly added administrative penalty fines is to prevent food violations and also to suspend existing violations;
(4) According to the new "Food Law", three new regulations on food control, food hygiene and zoonotic diseases have been formulated, replacing the decisions or decrees of several ministries and commissions.
