Turkey intends to formulate draft food regulations for bee products
On April 2, 2021, Turkish Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry of Food Safety and Control Administration issued No. 432 notice to develop "Draft Food Regulations for Bee Products". The main contents of the draft include:
1. The scope of application of laws and regulations (applicable to bee products sold domestically or imported and circulated in Turkey);
2. Product definition and classification (including propolis and its products, royal jelly (powder), (dry) bee pollen, etc., excluding bee products that are mainly used for treatment);
3. Distinguish the quality (composition) and physical and chemical properties of different types of products;
4. Regulations on the use of food additives;
5. Regulations on pesticide residues and pollutants;
6. General and special regulations for product labeling;
7. Packaging, storage and transportation requirements;
8. Product sampling basis;
9. Testing items and methods, etc.
The deadline of comment period is on May 17, 2021.
