Argentina amends many regulations in the Codex Alimentarius

 
On August 17, 2021, the Ministry of Health of Argentina issued joint resolutions No. 20/2021, 22/2021, 25/2021, 26/2021, 29/2021, 30/2021 through the official gazette to amend the Codex Alimentarius in Argentine (CAA) multiple regulations, some of the revised content is:

(1) Amend and add Article 911 of CAA, and include the clean and dried/dehydrated fruits with oval and purple medlar shapes into the CAA;

(2) Incorporating coralline red algae as a general food and dietary supplement into the CAA, and stipulating indicators such as particle size, color, smell, and moisture content of its products;

(3) Redefine natural mineral water as water suitable for drinking, derived from underground, from reservoirs or aquifers not affected by surface water, and from water sources mined through one or more catchment areas;

(4) Add the definitions of dehydrated rose hips or dried rose hips, rose hip powder, rose hip pulp, and rose oil, and the microbiological requirements of general foods that must be met;

(5) Clarify the definition and microbiological standards of minced meat or minced meat products. At the same time, it is stipulated that the pre-eating cooking method must be marked on the label for minced meat, sliced meat and meat-containing foods.

The above-mentioned resolutions shall take effect from the date of publication in the official gazette.
