EU issues official regulatory requirements for organic agricultural products and food in third countries
On August 16, 2021, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) No. 2021/1342, supplementing Regulation (EU) 2018/848. The main contents are as follows:
(1) The official supervision of production enterprises in third countries, including products produced, planting area, production area, number of producers and food processing activities; information on the nature of organic agricultural products and food; supervision and inspection activities carried out by the competent authority in the previous year, results achieved and corrective measures taken, etc.;
(2) Official requirements. The annual report should be submitted to the committee including the supervision status;
(3) Review of the recognition of third countries;
(4) Recognize that the official supervision of a third country is effective.
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, and shall apply from January 1, 2022.
