South Korea releases draft of partial revisions to "Labeling Standards for Foods"

On September 10, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea issued Announcement No. 2021-445, which intends to revise part of the "Labeling Standards for Foods". The main contents are as follows:

Revise individual labeling items and some regulations in labeling standards.

1. Revise the labeling standards for the production year, month, and date of natural foods.

2. The frozen, dried, salted, and heat-treated products in natural foods in transparent packaging should be marked with the date.

3. It is recommended to indicate the net content of natural foods in transparent packaging.

4. Natural foods in transparent packaging with the ultimate purpose of selling to consumers can be marked on a separate display page.

The deadline for solicitation of the above opinions is October 11, 2021.
