On October 26, 2021, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued the "Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Declaration) Amendment Regulations 2021". The main contents include:

(1) Revise the claim that food causes disease risk should specify the number of foods claimed:

(2) Revise the requirements for misleading consumer names that are banned on food labels;

(3) Nutrient content labeling requirements;

(4) Requirements for the labeling of sodium salt in food;

(5) Nutrition fact: identify the requirements for low-energy, low-fat and other relevant nutrient ingredients.

The regulations will be implemented on July 1, 2022.
