According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 275 batches of imported foods and 4 bactches of cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in October 2021.
Unqualified foods came from
40 countries or regions. Products from
Japan, 67 batches, were the most, followed by Hong Kong, China and France, with 26 batches and 21 batches respectively.
The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were
food additives use problems, nutritional supplements use problems, microbial contamination, failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access, unqualified labels, unqualified packaging, product mildew, expiration of shelf life, etc. In addition, some products were detected
excessive cadmium, excessive moisture, excessive acid value, excessive aflatoxin B1. microbial contamination (the most), unqualified labels, failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required, failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access.
Statistics also show that Tianjin Port detected the largest number of unqualified foods, with 56 batches.
In addition, 4 batches of cosmetics were not allowed to enter the country, of which are from Japan and Switzerland (failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required).
The above-mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
