South Korea releases guidelines for food safety management in 2022
On December 30, 2021, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued 2022 Food Safety Management Guidelines. The main contents are as follows:
(1) Establish a foundation for food production enterprises. Acquisition of business license, establishment of enterprise organization, self-inspection and self-control management, improper advertising management, HACCP system operation, HACCP plan formulation, traceability system establishment, food hazardous contaminants investigation, main revised content of "Food Standards and Regulations", etc.;
(2) Safety management of food production enterprises. The basic requirements for food safety management in 2022, the safety management of food production enterprises, the recall of substandard foods, the licensing and management of health functional food production enterprises, GMP requirements, etc., the summary of the main amendments to the health functional food law in 2021;
(3) imported food inspection and follow-up management. Registration management of imported food production enterprises, import inspection requirements for imported aquatic products and meat, imported food certificates, and main amendments to the Special Law on imported Food Safety Management in 2021;
(4) Management of genetically modified foods and new foods;
(5) Meat veterinary hygiene management system and guidance. Registration requirements, food standards, product hygiene monitoring requirements, declaration of imported meat products;
6) Safety management of agricultural products and aquatic products. Agricultural products management at the production stage, circulation stage, basic direction of aquatic product management in 2022, management requirements for aquatic product production and circulation stage, radiation safety management;
(7) Food poisoning prevention and management, children's food management, appendices, etc.
The guidelines will be implemented from the date of publication.
