South Korea revises import aquatic product inspection regulations
On December 31, 2021, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drugs Safety (MFDS) issued Announcement No. 2021-118 to partially revise the "Inspection Regulations for imported Aquatic Products" The main contents of the revision are:
(1) Adjust the inspection frequency and strict inspection cycle of imported aquatic products according to domestic and foreign food safety information;
(2) Apply the inspection type of imported aquatic products to each bill of lading report, and for the same product within the same day If the import declaration is made multiple times, the situation of the same inspection content will be improved;
(3) Priority arrangements will be given to aquatic products from exporting countries with relevant agreements to reduce the pressure of customs clearance inspection;
(4) For those from contracting countries and the imported aquatic products that have not been unqualified in the past year have been adjusted and inspected.
The announcement takes effect from the date of publication.
