On April 27, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan issued consultation document No. 235080065 to revise the Guidelines on Fish and Shellfish Names (the Guidelines are complementary documents to the Japanese Food Labelling Standards).  The main contents of the revision include :

(1) To revise the Latin scientific names of 3 kinds of aquatic products including Penaeusjaponicus and added 7 kinds of domestic aquatic products including Panulirusversicolor in the list of domestic aquatic products of Japan;  

(2) 32 aquatic products, including Penaeuslatisulcatus, were added to the list of aquatic products from imported or overseas fisheries.  

The feedback period of the revision is until May 26, 2022.
