Russia will harvest 87 million tons of wheat in 2022, higher than the record of 86 million tons in 2017, Elena Turina, head of analysis at the Russian Grains Union, predicted.
Among this harvest, 64 million tons of winter wheat will be produced, compared with 53 million tons in 2021.
In addition, the outlook for spring grain planting is very positive. She said most regions, especially Siberia, the Volga River and central regions, will expand the planting area of spring crops.
Russia produced 23 million tons of spring wheat last year. The crop could reach 23.5 million tons in 2022. As a result, the total wheat production will exceed 87 million tons.
