Saudi Arabia has banned titanium dioxide in food

On 10 May 2022, the Saudi Food and Drug Administration(SFDA) issued notice FS-CIR-1-V1/220421 to inform all food importers and manufacturers of the prohibition of titanium dioxide (E171) in food.  The notice is intended to prohibit the use of titanium dioxide (E171) as a food additive in food production and will not be registered with the SFDA with effect from October 21, 2022.  

2022年5月10日,沙特阿拉伯食药局(SFDA)发布FS-CIR-1-V1/220421号公告,向所有食品进口商及生产企业通报食品中禁止添加二氧化钛(E171)。公告主要内容为:禁止将二氧化钛(E171)作为食品添加剂用于食品生产,且添加二氧化钛(E171)的食品将不得在SFDA注册,并自2022年10月21日期生效实施。
