With the continuous development of global economic integration, the world's economic and trade ties are becoming increasingly close, especially the food trade occupies an important position in international trade. In 2021, China's top five trading partners are ASEAN, the European Union, the United States, Japan and South Korea, import and export trade to the above-mentioned trading partners grew 19.7%, 19.1%, 20.2%, 9.4% and 18.4% year-on-year, respectively. There are many problems in the actual import and export process, and the unqualified label has gradually become one of the main factors of unqualified products. Japan's Food Labeling Act, implemented on April 1, 2015, integrates the food labeling-related contents of the JAS Law, the Food Sanitation Act, and the Health Promotion Act, and provides general regulations on food labeling standards, non-compliant labeling management, and penalty regulations from a legislative perspective. The Food Labeling Standards specify the general labeling items, nutritional composition labeling, recommended labeling items and labeling requirements of processed food (including imported food and health functional food), fresh food and food additives. In addition, the standard also specifies the special labeling requirements for various types of food.

The Food Labeling Act stipulates that food for sale must be labeled with the name of the food, allergens, preservation methods, consumption period, raw materials, additives, nutrient content and energy, origin and other related matters. The Food Labeling Standard stipulates that processed foods should be labeled with the name of the food, the name of the ingredients, additives, net content, period of appreciation or consumption, energy and nutrient content, storage conditions, the person responsible for labeling and the manufacturer.
