After wheat, India banned sugar exports

India has banned sugar exports from June 1, the Republic reported May 26.  Earlier, India also restricted wheat exports.  
   
about 250,000 metric tons of sugar are used for production and consumption purposes in Nepal every year.  about 130,000 metric tons are produced domestically and the rest are imported from different countries.  India's sugar export ban could have an impact on Nepal.  
   
In the first 10 months of the current financial year, India exported 89,000 tonnes of sugar worth Rs 4.7 crore to Nepal.
