On 14 June 2022, Australia's Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment issued new import conditions for confectionery for human consumption. Confectionery products arriving in Australia are not required to provide an import licence if:
(1) The manufacturer's declaration or product label specifies that the product contains less than 10% dairy products or eggs; specifies that the product does not contain meat or meat products;
(2) The product is solid and can always maintain the same character. Upon arrival in Australia, the product shall not be distributed, sold or used for animal use, for environmental purposes (including use as bioreactor or fertiliser), for farming or veterinary therapeutic purposes.
In addition, each batch of goods must provide: cargo identification number, such as entry number, etc.; Identification documents of consignment such as invoice, waybill or importer's shipping bill; Product description document. Besides, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environnement has removed the requirement for commercial preparation and packaging of confectionery products.
The above import conditions will take effect on June 15, 2022.
