Difference-Between-Rules-and-Regulations_Figure-3
On 16 June 2022, the Food Quality and Safety Division of the Ministry of Health (MOH) issued multiple circulars to amend the Food Hygiene Regulations 2020.  The main amendments are as follows:

(1) Added the definition of dealcoholized alcoholic beverage (alcoholic beverage with alcohol content less than 0.5% after dealcoholization), requirements on raw materials and auxiliary materials (flavoring agent and sweetener are allowed), and label requirements ( "0 alcohol", "soft drink" or other terms with similar meanings shall not be marked);

(2) Revise the definition of Compounded hard liquor (mixed liquor products containing ethanol from various crops distillation or fermentation sources), and revise the minimum packaging specification of finished products from 700ml to 350ml;

(3) Revise the pre-packaged food label requirements, such as the provision of food added with a single food additive (including nutritional fortifier) of multiple functions. In this case, only one of the functions can be claimed on the label;  Revise the definition of country of origin, i.e. the country or region in which food is processed into its final form.

The revision takes effect on July 22, 2022.
