Japan revises inspection methods for food, beverage and fats

On June 17, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan revised the inspection method of food, beverage and fats, effective from the same day.  The main amendments are as follows:  
 
(1) Scope of application: The inspection method provides for the inspection of beverages and fats as set out in annex A of foreign operators and operators certified in accordance with the provisions of Article 10, part 1 and Article 30 part 1 of the Relevant Law on Agricultural and Forestry Specifications of Japan (Showa 25 Law No. 175);  
 
(2) Citation standards;  
 
(3) Terms and definitions;  
 
(4) For beverages, foods or fats, the proportion of extraction in grading according to Japanese agricultural and forestry specifications and the grading standards related to inspection;  
 
(5) Products from certified operator's factory concerning the product certification technical benchmark stipulated in the inspection of numerous production lines.
