A new national standard GOST R 70148-2022 "Technical Conditions for Prepared Barbecue Meat" has been approved by the Russian Federal Bureau of Technical Regulations and Metrology, which stipulates for the first time the quality safety and labeling requirements of barbecue products.
The new standard applies to pre-boned barbecued meat that has been refrigerated and frozen for use in the trade and catering industry, which filled the blank in the production and processing of such products that have been long without standards.
The standard refers to meat mainly from pork, beef and lamb. In terms of physical and chemical indexes, the requirements of appearance, color, cutting shape and smell, protein and fat content of the products are stipulated, and the manufacturer is required to formulate the shelf life of the products before and after opening according to the experimental results.
According to the official website, the standards are based on meeting the relevant provisions of the Eurasian Economic Union technical Regulation TR CU 034/2013 "Meat and Meat Product Safety" and setting a uniform high standard for meat and meat products.
