Exports of Indonesian instant noodles to Taiwan Province have been rejected due to excessive pesticide residues

Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration has detained several ships carrying instant noodles from Indonesia due to excessive levels of pesticide residue, according to Tempo.co Media, Indonesia, July 6, 2022.  
 
Taiwan food and Drug Administration said in its weekly food import Report on Taipei on Tuesday:  Nineteen ships were refused entry by local customs, seven of which were carrying 4431.96 kg of instant noodles, including 4074.4 kg of Mie Sedaap brand instant noodles in Cups from Indonesia and 327.6 kg of Lucky Me brand instant noodles in cups from the Philippines.  All instant noodles are imported by Taiwan ELOM Group Corporation.  
 
Given that most of the tainted instant noodles came from Indonesia, Taiwan's food and Drug administration said customs would increase the percentage of spot checks on food imported from Indonesia to 20 % from 5%-10%.  
 
Taiwan's Food and drug Administration said all food and drinks denied entry due to violations will be returned or destroyed.
