The United Kingdom has issued requirements for the export of food products of animal origin

On 1 July 2022, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) issued the requirements for applying for export of food of animal origin.  Main Contents:  

(1) EU and non-EU countries must obtain approval to export animals and food of animal origin to the UK;  
 
(2) The exporter must comply with all relevant certification requirements;  
 
(3) Countries licensed to export animals and animal foods to the United Kingdom (England, Scotland and Wales) are free from the risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and other diseases;  
 
(4)Approval for the export of animals and animal foods to the United Kingdom can only be applied for by the competent authority of the relevant country, which must send an email to the UK Office for Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Trade Assurance.

This requirement shall come into effect as of the date of promulgation.
