The rise of prices and shortage of raw materials is a big problem for shrimp companies, at present the small size of fresh/frozen South American white shrimp is very popular, and some companies choose to expand the proportion of production of shrimp exporting to markets such as Japan, the United States and the European Union, to overcome the scarcity of raw materials, VASEP said.
In the first half of this year, the export of South America white shrimp exports rose by 17%, and the export value of fresh/frozen shrimp rose by 21%, among which black tiger shrimp exports reached $300 million, 20% up year-on-year, and lobster exports reached $130 million, 30 times up year-on-year.
Vietnam's exports to China exceeded $108 million in the first five months of this year, up nearly 29 times year on year.
From march to may, the total amount of Chinese exports to China reached $88 million in May 2022, up from 126% to 140%, and the total volume of exports of $275 million in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 101%, and especially Vietnamese lobster exports to China rose by more than $108 billion.
