Canada: Certain processed fruit or vegetable products must be graded before being imported or sold in interprovincial trade

On 7 July 2022, Canada issued a notice of Addendum G/TBT/N/CAN/662/Add.1 to publish amendments to the Canadian Classification Series: Volume 3 - Grades of Processed Fruit or Vegetable Products, Part 1 grades of Processed Fruit or Vegetable Products in Sealed Packages, Section 40 sweet Potatoes.  
 
According to the circular, certain processed fruit or vegetable (PFV) products must be graded before being imported or sold in interprovincial trade in Canada;  PFV grades and requirements are maintained and enforced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in a citation incorporation (IbR) document entitled "Canadian Grades Outline: Volume 3 -- Processed Fruit or Vegetable Products" that has been incorporated into the Canadian Safe Food Regulations (SFCR);  Changes to the maximum size of diced or diced white potatoes packaged in sealed grades: CanadaFancy, CanadaChoice and CanadaStandard, the CFIA proposes to change the size requirement from 10 mm to 20 mm for some grades of diced or diced sweet potatoes in sealed packages,  the change in the size of the diced product will not result in a request to modify the food label, nor will it affect the level of inspection, what is inspected, or how food labels are inspected.  
 
The regulation was issued and adopted on June 27, 2022.
