South Korea plans to enact Regulations on Joint Operation of Integrated Food Nutrition Composition Database

On August 3, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued a notice No. 2022-353, which intends to formulate part of the Regulations on Joint Operation of the Integrated Food Nutrition Composition Database. The main contents are as follows:
 
The Integrated Food Nutrition Composition Database(hereinafter referred to as "Integrated Database") refers to a database that is generated and managed by integrated food nutrition compostition information owned by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Rural Development Administration according to the provision standards.
 
According to the Guidelines on Public Data Management (Notice of the Ministry of Public Administration and Safety), the minister of Public Administration and Safety will designate the standards for the provision of public data by formulating items and forms that are applicable to the opening of food nutrition information held by affiliated organizations as public data.
 
1. Purpose, definition of terms and scope of application of the regulation.
2. Management system: In order to negotiate and coordinate the main matters related to the operation of the integrated DB of food nutrition composition, the Council for operation and development and the Council for practice are formed, and the executive office is in charge of the relevant business assistance.
 
3. Regulations on the purpose and scope of the establishment of the Integrated database of food nutrition composition, the role of the authorities in charge of providing standards, the registration and inspection of the comprehensive database, and the provisions of the post management and other details.
 
The above comments will be solicited until August 23, 2022.
