On 16 August 2022, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced the temporary restrictions on the import of poultry and poultry products from the vicinity of the highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in Spain.
 
Due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza at a Turkey farm in the municipality of Cortegana, Huelva, Autonomous Region of Andalusia, Spain, Singapore will impose temporary restrictions on imports of poultry and poultry products within 10 km of the affected area from Aug 8, 2022. Poultry products heat-treated to meet the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) requirements for inactivation of avian influenza viruses will not be affected by the import restrictions. To facilitate the clearance of other poultry and poultry products, the veterinary health certificate accompanying the import of poultry and poultry products should include the following additional evidence:
 
A. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is a notifiable disease in exporting countries.
 
B. Poultry of meat origin are not vaccinated against avian influenza as defined by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).
 
C. Poultry meat and meat products do not originate from the restricted area with a 10-km radius around the affected site.
 
D. Poultry of meat origin are day-old chicks born, raised and slaughtered in Spain or legally imported from a country with an equivalent poultry health status.
