On 20 August 2022, the Gazette of the Government of Turkey published Announcement No. 2022/10, Codex Alimentarius - Sugar Standards. The main content of the standard is as follows: Applicable product range (including sugar, sucrose, sugar solution, invert syrup, etc.), product definition and classification, sensory quality and composition requirements (e.g., sugar polarization >99.7°Z, impurity content <0.1%, Dry matter content of invert syrup >50%, etc.), applicable standards for health indicators, naming and labeling rules for various products (e.g., dry matter content of invert syrup and sugar solution should be indicated on the label, and the source of glucose syrup should be indicated), packaging, transportation and storage regulations, sampling and testing methods, etc.
The standard is effective from the date of release, with a transition period until December 31, 2024.
