On 23 August 2022, the Council of the EAEC, in accordance with the EAEU Treaty, established tariff quotas for a variety of meat products and whey imported into the EAEU region from third countries in 2023 and allocated tariff quotas based on the balance of consumption and production of the products in member countries. The negative difference between production and consumption this year is expected to be 177,300 tons for beef, 62,300 tons for pork, 242,200 tons for poultry, and 14,600 tons for whey. The tariff quotas for Kazakhstan and Russia in 2023 will be determined in accordance with the quantities specified in the countries' accession Protocol to the WTO. For the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus and the Kyrgyz Republic, tariff quotas are determined by the difference between production and consumption, taking into account the quantities requested by the parties. Accordingly, for beef, the quota is 11,300 tonnes for the Republic of Armenia, 21,000 tonnes for the Republic of Kazakhstan, 5,000 tonnes for the Kyrgyz Republic and 570,000 tonnes for the Russian Federation. For pork, the quota will be allocated in the following quantities: 7,500 tons for the Republic of Armenia, 20,000 tons for the Republic of Belarus, and 3,000 tons for the Kyrgyz Republic. The quotas for poultry meat and by-products are 39,100 tons for the Republic of Armenia, 10,900 tons for the Republic of Belarus, 140,000 tons for the Republic of Kazakhstan, 58,000 tons for the Kyrgyz Republic and 364,000 tons for the Russian Federation. Whey import quotas are 1200 tons for the Republic of Armenia and 15,000 tons for the Russian Federation.
