On October 24, 2022, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the elimination of the dual labeling requirement (Notification number 61-22) for certain meat and poultry products, with a deadline of November 1, 2023. FSIS NO longer requires packages of meat and poultry products (containing at least 1 lb and 1 pint, but less than 4 lb and 1 gallon) to indicate net weight and net content in 2 different units of measurement. FSIS consider it unnecessary to require meat and poultry product labels to use more than one unit of measurement to indicate product weight and content.
