1.the terms and definitions of Sports nutrition food

According to “Announcement of the State Administration for Market Regulation on Revising and Announcing the Categorization Catalogue of Food Production on Licenses”and “National Food Safety Standard Regarding Labeling of Prepackaged Foods for Special Dietary Uses”(GB 13432-2013),Sports nutrition foods belong to special dietary foods.”National food safety standard General rules for sports nutrition food”(GB 24154-2015)defines sports nutrition foods as followed: They are special processed food that meet the physiological metabolic states, sports performance and special needs of certain nutrients for sports fans (who participate in physical exercise of medium intensity or above for 30 min or above each time & three times or above per week).

GB 24154 gives the classification of sports nutrition foods, products are classified by featured nutrients into energy supplement, energy control and protein supplement; products are classified by sports into speed & power,endurance and post-exercise recovery categories.

2.Requirements for imported sports nutrition food

Overseas production, processing and storage enterprises that export foods to China are collectively referred to as overseas production enterprises of imported food.The Customs shall carry out conformity assessment on import food in accordance with the relevant laws and administrative regulations on the inspection of import and export commodities.The conformity assessment activities on import food shall include: assessment and review on the food safety management system of the foreign countries (regions) that export food to China , registration of overseas manufacture enterprises, filing and conformity assurance of importers and exporters, animal and plant quarantine entry approval, inspection of attached conformity certificates, document review, on-site inspection, supervision and random inspection, import and sales record inspection and the combination of the above-mentioned various items.

The label of product shall comply with provisions in GB 13432.“Sports nutrition food” and product category shall be indicated in the principal display panel of the label.Unsuitable population (if applicable) shall be indicated in the label.“This product is not suitable for pregnant, lactating women, children and infants and young children” shall be indicated in the label of products with added Creatine.
