Federal Register, November 29, 2022- The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued Notice 2022-26110, proposing additional guidance on labeling requirements for food allergens. The main contents of the guide include:
(1) Proposed to expand the source range of allergens "milk" and "egg" (" milk "shall be increased from only cow milk to buffalo milk, sheep milk and goat milk, and" egg "shall be increased from only hen’s egg to other edible poultry eggs, and the name of the animal from which the allergens come shall be marked on the food label);
(2) Supplementary requirements for allergen labelling for certain specific packaging forms (such as different sub-product units within multi-unit packaging).
The announcement will be published in the Federal Register on November 30, 2022, and there will be a 60-day comment period.
