South Korea issued 2023 standards for imported livestock products and other requirements

On December 30, 2022, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea released the standards, specifications, and inspection requirements for imported livestock products in 2023. The main contents include: 

(1) Check items and objects. Inspection objects include: meat products and by-products of cattle, pigs, goats, and poultry; edible eggs; meat products and by-products of horses, deer, and rabbits. For the inspection items, see "The First Precision Inspection Items for imported Livestock Products in 2023"; 

(2) Inspection method: one inspection for the same imported animal product of the same company; 

(3) Applicable time: from January 1, 2023 (based on the date of shipment prevail); 

(4) Note requirements. Information on meat producing countries, varieties, and overseas workshops that are undergoing new enhanced inspections of standard specifications can be found in "Safety Information > Product and Company Search > Meat Intensive Inspection Information".
