Australia issued import conditions for dairy products for personal use

On 22 March 2023, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) issued import conditions for dairy products for personal use, effective from the date of publication. Main contents:


(1) A Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry import permit is not required, provided that the following conditions are met;


(2) The goods must meet biosecurity requirements. To demonstrate compliance with this requirement you must present the following on a Manufacturer's declaration or Food product label: Evidence that the goods were manufactured in a country approved by the Australian Director of Biosecurity as free from foot and mouth disease;


(3) The goods must be prepared and packed commercially;


(4) The goods must be clearly identifiable;


(5) These goods or any derivatives must not be distributed, sold or used for: a) animal consumption b) environmental purposes (including use as bioremediation product or fertiliser) c) growing purposes, or d) veterinary therapeutic use.
