On April 19, 2023, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) announced that the Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP) reassessed the risk of BPA to public health. After evaluation, the CEP team concluded that the probability of direct genotoxic hazard from BPA is very low. based on results from animal data and observational studies in humans, the immune system was determined to be the most sensitive to BPA exposure, and humans have health concerns with dietary exposure to BPA.

This time, the EU reassesses the risk of BPA in food to public health, and may adjust the TDI requirements of BPA again.
