Russia implements phased labeling experiments on beverage products

Russian media Alta.soft news on June 1: The Russian Federation government issued Resolution N.858, requiring that during the period from June 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023, a process of marking certain Types of soft drinks (including fruit juices) were experimented with.


The regulations stipulate that the official departments participating in the experiment include: the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Taxation Bureau, the General Administration of Customs, the Consumer Rights Protection and Public Welfare Supervision Bureau, and the Certification Bureau.


The regulations stipulate the procedures, objectives, participants, etc. of the labeling experiment, and stipulate that relevant parties such as soft drink production and sales should voluntarily participate in the experiment and submit applications in accordance with the regulations.


The list of products for which Russia is undergoing labeling experiments (including the Eurasian Economic Union's foreign economic activity product code TH VED) includes: drinking water with added sugar or other sweeteners or flavoring substances, including mineral water and carbonated water; soybean-based beverages (protein content not less than 2.5%); kvass; unfermented and non-alcoholic added fruit, nut juices (including coconut water) and vegetable juices, etc.
