On June 13, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACCA) announced that it will allow the import of eligible coffee beans, fresh bananas, and aquaculture products that meet relevant requirements from Honduras.
Honduran coffee beans, scientifically known as Coffea arabica L., also known as coffee beans in English, refer to unroasted and unshelled coffee seeds grown and processed in Honduras. They have had their skin, pulp, parchment, and silver skin removed and are processed through drying and screening.
Fresh bananas (hereinafter referred to as "bananas"), scientifically known as Musa sapientum and in English as Banana, are immature green bananas harvested within 10-11 weeks after flowering, with uncracked skin.
Aquaculture products refer to artificially cultured aquatic animal products and their derivatives, marine plant products such as algae and their derivatives for human consumption. The products do not include species listed in Appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) or the List of National Key Protected Wild Animals in China (LKSPWA), live aquatic animals, and aquatic and plant breeding materials.
The announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including production enterprise requirements, inspection and quarantine requirements, packaging and labeling requirements, and certificate requirements.
