Sergey Dankver, director of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, said that the bureau and the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) have started preparations for negotiations on the supply of pork from some regions of Russia to the Chinese market.
Dankver said: "I would like to remind that during Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's visit to China in May, we proposed to supply pork from some regions of Russia to the Chinese market, for example, from Belgorod region. At present, it is negotiating with the General Administration of Customs of China on this issue and preparing for bilateral negotiations on this issue.”
He added that the Bureau is also coordinating with the Chinese side on the list of Russian alfalfa producers, and hopes to obtain permission to supply rye flour and semolina to China by the end of this year.
Dankver pointed out: "But the main effort is to get Russian winter wheat and barley to enter the Chinese market. Now only spring wheat and barley are allowed to enter the Chinese market. We hope that the regionalization of the supply of corn, rice and rapeseed to China will be cancelled. Looking forward to Safflower, crocus, as well as Jerusalem artichokes, frozen cranberries and reindeer moss are available."
Currently, Russia does not supply pork to China. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko stated at the end of March that Russia will continue to negotiate on the issue of pork supply to China, and domestic companies are ready to accept relevant Chinese inspections. She said that Russia ranks among the top three in terms of poultry meat supply to China. Last year, poultry meat exports increased by 10%, and beef supply remained at the level of 2021, at about 21,000 tons.
